Welcome
My Name is Mike Nosti and I'm from a small bayshore town called Leonardo which is located on the Raritan Bay in New Jersey. I am a United States Coast Guard licensed Captain and former Marine Lieutenant for my local volunteer fire company. Ever since I was a kid I've been obsessed with the ocean. It started with bringing seining nets to the beach and picking crabs off pilings to needing to bring a pole every time I knew i'd be around water because I always wanted to catch something. Theres something about catching fish that never gets old. The thrill of the chase of the catch of a lifetime is almost a myth entirely, no matter how big of a fish you catch, all fishermen know...were still going to get back on that boat and go looking for a bigger one. Thats what got me hooked. I've traveled up and down the east coast, across all of North America and down into Central America searching for monsters, and have definitely found some, but I don't think I'll ever be satisfied. |
In my family I was always taught to respect those who protect us. Growing up in a time where I was a kid who just entered high school and seeing September 11th first hand really did something to me as a person. The town I grew up in was seriously devastated with losses. After attending memorial service after memorial service I knew I wanted to do something that helped people and the community so I later decided to join the fire service. I could tell you all day long about what people in that type of work go through but you would never really grasp the emotional impact situations can have on a person unless you were involved yourself. I've spoken with friends who were in the Military in Iraq and Afghanistan, friends who are Police and fellow Firefighters who have gone through some pretty serious stuff. They don't always say that things bother them, most of the people whose stories I've listened to come off hard as stone. I started Capt & Crew for them. Those who have selflessly put themselves out there for a better world, a better community, a safer existence for others, without these people life would not be the same. Heros On The Water is an organization that operates across the USA. They are a non-profit that is dedicated to taking those who have sacrificed themselves both physically and emotionally for their country and communities out on the water for some time to relax and enjoy nature and the company and comradery of others who have been there too. Every item you find on this site has been designed by me with the hopes that you will be interested enough to buy a shirt or two, or five or ten to help me grow this into something that really makes an impact for those rock solid men and women who could really use what I think is the best medicine there is on the market. A day on the water. |
